Jakob Kostecki
Supervisor
Jakob Kostecki, AAS, CCP
Jakob Kostecki brings over a decade of comprehensive public safety experience to his role as a Critical Care Paramedic and Supervisor at Lakes Region EMS. His career is defined by a comprehensive progression through nearly every facet of the industry—spending time as a Vehicle Service Technician, EMT, Engineer, Dive Tender, Field Training Officer, SWAT Paramedic, and Field Lead. This firsthand experience across every "cog in the machine" informs a leadership style rooted in empathy and a deep understanding of the labor and love required at every level of emergency service.
Currently, Jakob oversees the technical and administrative infrastructure that supports LREMS field operations. His work centers on operational efficiency, with a focus on emergency preparedness, radio communications, data dashboards, and field-deployable technology. On a regional level, he has an active role in the Metro EMS Emergency Operations Center, and represents the agency at the MESB Technical Operations Committee and Emergency Preparedness subcommittee. Within the MN Ambulance Task Force, he contributes to the logistics and deployment strategies that coordinate large-scale EMS responses across the state, region, and nation.
A certified American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor in BLS, ACLS, and PALS, Jakob extends his clinical expertise to internal staff, partner agencies, and the community. He broadens this curriculum to include specialized Emergency Readiness training, drawing on his tactical background to instruct on Tactical EMS (TEMS), Officer Down procedures, and Advanced First Aid. These programs emphasize hemorrhage control and care in high-threat environments, while his work in regional logistics informs his instruction on Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) management, focusing on triage protocols and incident command integration.
Off the clock, Jakob spends time in the outdoors, seeking out the quiet of lakes, rivers, and national parks—often accompanied by his wife and their Golden Retriever, Finn.
